2026 Genesis GV80 driving on bridge

On the highway, Genesis Highway Driving Assist™ is your best friend for automated vehicle following, acceleration, and deceleration. This driver assistance tool automatically accelerates and brakes to follow the vehicle ahead of you at a set distance, while also keeping you centered. Jenkins Genesis of Leesburg has written this primer to Highway Driving Assist™ so you know how it works and why it’s useful.

What Is It?

Highway Driving Assist™ is a system that helps you maintain a set distance behind the vehicle ahead of you on the highway. It keeps you at a set distance and speed when you’re driving in a highway lane, while also centering your vehicle to stay within the lines. It’s available to use on specific controlled-access roads, including U.S. interstate roads, federal and state highways, and select Canadian provincial and territorial highways.

How Does It Work?

This platform uses a front view camera at the top of your car and a radar on your front grille to analyze the road and vehicles ahead of you. With this info, Highway Driving Assist™ communicates acceleration, brake, and steering commands to the vehicle for automated control. All you need to do is press the Driving Assist button on your steering wheel to activate it.

How Do I Use It?

Every compatible Genesis model has a dedicated Highway Driving Assist™ mode on your instrument cluster. When you activate it, your Highway Driving Assist™ indicator will turn green; this tells the vehicle to begin following the car ahead of you. From there, you can set the distance and speed. You must keep your hands on the steering wheel when this feature is on.
